AMMROC team first to use new UAE Training Facility

AMS opened a new Training Facility at Fujairah International Airport earlier this year. This important addition to AMS’s disabled aircraft recovery training offering is the result of a unique partnership with Unified International (an independent aerospace high-end services company with bases in the Netherlands and United Arab Emirates).

The new location offers all year-round training capacity and was selected as an ideal location for aircraft recovery teams who need to practice their techniques on sandy, rough or uneven ground and in arid, dry, hot climate conditions.

The 3 Day Aircraft Recovery Training Courses held at Fujairah follow the same high standard syllabus used at AMS’s Cotswold Airport UK Training Facility. These combine 1 day theory training and 2 days practical training, including an aircraft lift on airbags, aircraft de-bogging/towing and an aircraft fuselage lift. The practical exercises at the new UAE location use a B707 aircraft.

AMMROC were the first company to make use of the training course at Fujairah, where their team learnt how to recover an aircraft efficiently and safely (all AMS courses are conducted in accordance with IATA recommendations and the appropriate Aircraft Recovery Manual).

Shay Hickey, Training Manager at the UAE Training Facility, commented “The AMMROC team did a superb job across the 3 days in hot, humid conditions that mirror the type of aircraft recovery scenarios they encounter. Now we’re up and running, we’re looking forward to welcoming more teams to the new training facility.”

Mark Knight, Managing Director of AMS, said “We’re delighted to have extended our aircraft recovery training facilities through the partnership with Unified International. Mark Trotter, Michel Van Ierland, Lorcan Lynch and the rest of the UI team share our vision to encourage all airports to have aircraft recovery equipment onsite and teams professionally trained to use it.”
